Once known as Clone Force 99, this experimental clone trooper unit defies expectations, manifesting genetic mutations giving rise to extraordinary capabilities. Adopting names embodying their roles, the Batch is led by Hunter, noted for his keen senses and expertise in tracking. Tech is their systems expert, exploiting his mental gifts to support the team as a computer slicer and intrusion specialist. The group is rounded out by Crosshair, the sharpshooter; Wrecker, as an unstoppable close combat enforcer; and Echo, a heavily cybernetically augmented former ARC trooper.
As the Republic transforms into the Galactic Empire, the Batch is forced to improvise to survive, becoming fugitives. They are joined by a young medical assistant named Omega, herself a result of a cloning experiment. Ensuring her safety provides an additional motivation for the Bad Batch to pave their own way in a hostile galaxy.
